Ankylodocus

Length: 25 meters (82.5 feet) long
Weight: 20 tons (40,000 pounds)
Height: 8.6 meters (28.4 feet) tall
Diet: Herbivorous
Hybrid of: Ankylosaurus, Diplodocus, Pachycephalosaurus, Gastonia

Description

The second genetically-modified herbivorous dinosaur hybrid fabricated by the bio-genetic company InGen, the Ankylodocus is also by far the largest hybrid created by the company. This mostly benevolent armored behemoth towers over InGen's other hybrids, even over Indominus Rex itself. Many carnivores would possibly think twice before launching a vicious assault on such a creature with armor nearly as strong as the dry concrete for a sidewalk. Ankylodocus might as well be considered the "towering tank" or "walking fortress" of their hybrid creature project.

This hybrid sauropod's genetic makeup consists mostly of the DNA of two very different and distantly-related herbivorous dinosaurs, the armored Cretaceous thyreophoran Ankylosaurus and the huge, Jurassic, whip-tailed sauropod Diplodocus. The result was a titanic herbivore with the body of a Diplodocus and the armor of an Ankylosaurus. However, the club from the ankylosaur DNA is not very large, especially on the end of the elongated, whip-like tail, and cannot provoke much damage to an attacker if swung. To make for a more aggressive-looking dinosaur, Pachycephalosaurus and Gastonia DNA was involved in the genetic mix when creating this highly-defensive gargantuan. With the DNA of Pachycephalosaurus, the very top of the head is transformed into a conspicuous, bony dome equipped with several spikes, which be swung by the neck at a predator or rival in defense. In the case of Gastonia, a smaller, more primitive ankylosaur than Ankylosaurus, its DNA was used to aid in defending the flanks and underside of the hybrid even more, with large spines that jut out from the shoulder region and injure large carnivores with ease. It seems as though the only handicap of this hybrid sauropod is its soft, vulnerable underside, but nonetheless, it might not be that effortless to attack the dinosaur in that region, considering how defensive it seems.

A herd of twelve, consisting of 7 females and 5 males, was initially bred and hatched in 2017, the same year that InGen's Spinoraptors were bred. They were kept with a larger paddock that spans nearly 7 acres in length and 5 acres in width. All herd members matured within 8 to 9 years. The company's plans are to use these hybrids in the battle field, but not as effective fighters, but rather as diversions for enemy soldiers to shoot at their powerful hides, allowing other more effective hybrids to come in and finish the job. However, InGen is still trying to reassess this plan once more, as these huge armored sauropods do appear to be breeding. One of the males of the herd, nicknamed "Rocky" by some staff members, mated with a contemporary female in 2027. This female is pregnant with a clutch of eggs, which has many InGen staff concerned and attempting to reassess their original ideas. It could be that they might turn over these hybrids to a possible future Jurassic World park, or simply release them into the actual wild of Sorna. Either way, many believe that the Ankylodocus, a highly-adapted herbivorous hybrid, deserves some sort of place in the world.
